Healthcare Is A Shared Public Good.

Healthcare Is A Shared Public Good. I believe that health is a public good that needs to be protected from abuse. https://www.flickr.com/photos/149902454@N08/35082057430/ If sick people can’t afford medical treatment, then sometimes they can’t afford to miss work either. Some people are just very committed to doing their job, even when they can afford to take time off. This sometimes means a spread of disease. These are different problems, but they combine in a bad way. [Read More]

An Open Letter to Emma González and Other Young Activists

Through the horrors and fleeting triumphs of the last few years, young people like you have been one of the reminders that things will get better. My Views On Brett Kavanaugh

Christine Blasey Ford’s sexual assault accusation is very important and deserves a real investigation. It is important, but it is not urgent. Kavanaugh does not seem to be a clear and present danger to women, especially now that he is infamous. There is a separate issue which is both important and urgent but has been largely buried under the news of yet another sexual assault being ignored by the Republicans in power. [Read More]

The Importance of Heart and Mind

We’re at an interesting point of our country’s history. It is either the awakening of a new American golden age or a horrifying return to historical violence. The many nations of our country are looking at the same objective truth and seeing very different pictures. These pictures are tinted by the lenses of their own personal experiences, personal opinions, and core belief differences that we would never even think to question. [Read More]

We liberals are doing far worse than destroying our shoes

We liberals are doing far worse than destroying our shoes I keep seeing liberals mocking some conservatives for destroying or discarding their Nike branded merchandise due to Nike’s Colin Kaepernick ad campaign. Destroying something you paid for doesn’t harm Nike in any way. Only your future purchases make a difference. But it’s symbolic. Wearing a brand in times of controversy is often an act of defiance when you agree with them. [Read More]

I believe our current version of capitalism is held in place by apathy and ignorance, not force.

Wal*Mart comes into a town, and brings incredibly low prices, so people shop there. The local shops suffer and die. Salaries drop. They screw over employees. They screw over suppliers. They sell cheap crap that breaks and needs replacing. A lot of their products come over on cargo ships registered in Panama so they can ignore the fact their CO2 output violates international agreements. Eventually the town can’t sustain them, and they leave. [Read More]

You Are Not Your Job

You are not your job. Sage advice that I received and discarded as a teen. See, I knew a better way. If you do what you love, then work isn’t even work. Your friends are your peers and even your bosses. The cast changes as people come and go. Some you keep in touch with, but most of the time you just wish you did. Then you leave, and it all stops. Rise Of The Assholes

Rise Of The Assholes Last year in Charlottesville there was rally of people protesting the removal of confederate statues. Like all groups of people, it was a collection of individuals, each with their own views, motivations and actions. Some of the conservatives at the rally were attempting to protect what they view as their culture. While the Confederacy rightfully represents racism and slavery to many, to others it represents southern life. [Read More]

I believe Donald Trump has sexually assaulted women on multiple occasion.

I believe Donald Trump has sexually assaulted women on multiple occasion. I believe this because he told us so. “I’m automatically attracted to beautiful women — I just start kissing them, it’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything,” he said in the 2005 conversation. “Grab ’em by the pussy.” The video can be found here in case you disagree with my interpretation.
